Security has been beefed up in Jos, the Plateau State capital, as the governorship election petition tribunal delivers judgement today.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that heavily armed security personnel have been stationed at key locations in the city. The premises of the Jos High Court Complex, where the tribunal is sitting, is also under heavy security guard.
The tribunal is expected to deliver judgment in the case between Dr Nentawe Yilwadta, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Governor Caleb Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Yilwadta is challenging Mutfwang’s victory in the March 11 election on the grounds that he was not validly nominated by the PDP and that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not comply with the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). He also alleges over-voting in some polling units and makes several other prayers.
