High Court Restrains Suspended Benue APC Chairman from Acting as Party Chair

The Benue State High Court has issued a restraining order against Austin Agada, the suspended state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), preventing him from parading himself as the party’s chairman.

This ruling comes in the wake of his suspension by his ward chairman and six others earlier this week.

The development follows accusations levelled by the APC in the state against Paul Biam, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Benue State, and Ugwu Odoh, the Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment and Climate, accusing them of orchestrating an attack on the party’s secretariat. The alleged incident transpired during a press conference led by the Owukpa Ehaje Ward One chairman and his executive members.

The chairman said that the entire executive committee convened at the secretariat to express unanimous support for the state chairman and to disassociate themselves from those responsible for his suspension.

Simultaneously, Agada told journalists that the attack stemmed from a scheme aimed at forcibly removing him as chairman.
