Hoodlums on Rampage in Taraba, Loot Offices, Shops, Warehouse

The Nigeria police in Taraba State have confirmed the killing of two hoodlums in Jalingo, the state capital.

According to the police, the criminals met their end after they launched an attack on a warehouse belonging to one Jugulde in the early hours of Saturday, July 22.

The police said the rampaging hoodlums, who were 40, attacked several shops and offices apart from the warehouse.

Among stores and offices observed to have been attacked by them include the Rock FM radio station office, located along Mallam Joda road in the Jalingo metropolis.

The criminals looted the office of the Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria, Taraba State chapter.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abdullahi Usman, who confirmed the attack, said the command received a distress call at about 12. a.m; that some hoodlums were going about breaking warehouses and stores in the state capital.

“However, before the police could reach the scene of the incident, two of the hoodlums had been killed by soldiers who arrived there before the police,” he said.

He added the corpses of the killed hoodlums had been taken to the Federal Medical Centre FMC mortuary, Jalingo, for autopsy.

According to the PPRO, the attackers were armed with weapons such as guns, iron rods, and daggers and broke into the warehouse and made away with several goods.

He said the hoodlums stole food, computers, electronics, chemicals and paint.
