The House of Representatives has postponed its plenary session, which was earlier adjourned to May 9, to May 16, 2023.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the announcement was made in a statement by the House on Monday evening.
According to the statement, the reason for the postponement is to enable members to participate in the ongoing induction program of the 10th National Assembly. The House of Representatives’ Clerk, Dr Yahaya Danzaria Esq., expressed regret for any inconvenience caused due to the induction program.
They added:
“This is to inform all Hon Members and the general public that the House of Representatives will not resume plenary on Tuesday 9th May 2023 as earlier adjourned. The next adjourned date will be Tuesday 16th May 2023.
“This change is intended to allow Members to partake actively in the ongoing induction program of the 10th National Assembly. All inconveniences are highly regretted.”
Before the break, the House of Representatives approved President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to restructure the N23.7 trillion loan obtained by the Federal Government from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) through the Ways and Means Advances.
This approval came 24 hours after the Senate had granted a similar request from the president, despite some opposition.
