The House of Representatives has ordered the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to suspend the planned increase in electricity tariff.
This is coming on the heel of new order given by the regulator, which many Nigerians have frowned at. Recall that NERC had directed the Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) to enforce an upward review of the tariff from April 1.
The directive was given by the House Committee on Power at its meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.
Aliyu Magaji, the committee chairman also ordered NERC to issue a directive suspending the upward review pending proper consultations on the matter.
