The race for Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives is heating up, with contender Muktar Betera Aliyu making a visit to President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to seek support and endorsement.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Betara represents Biu/Bayo/Shani and Kwaya Kusar Federal Constituency of Borno State.
The lawmaker has been actively seeking support from party members, members-elect, former lawmakers, and other stakeholders in his bid for the position.
This visit to the President-elect is just one of many consultations Aliyu has undertaken in the past three months ahead of the June inauguration.
A video released by Aliyu’s campaign media office on Wednesday morning showed the President-elect warmly greeting Aliyu and leading him into a private room for discussions. Aliyu, who currently chairs the House of Representatives Appropriation Committee, exchanged pleasantries with the incoming President before posing for photos.
The consultation took place at Tinubu’s new official residence at the Defence House in Abuja, following his return from vacations and the Muslim lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
Also present in the video were outgoing Senate President Ahmad Lawan, former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi, and other loyalists of the President-elect.
