How 3 APC lawmakers spent N10m to repair boreholes in Taraba

In what could be seen as a daunting task by many politicians in the country, three legislators from Taraba State saw the need to relief the burden of their constituents by repairing about 300 dilapidated boreholes in Bali-Gassol Federal Constituency of the state.

According to the lawmakers, they contributed the money in order to repair the boreholes located at different parts of the two local government areas so as to solve the lingering shortage of water in those areas.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN reports that the lawmakers are Sen. Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf representing Taraba central at the upper chamber; Gambo Mubarak, member representing Gassol and Bali federal constituency in the House of Representatives; and Suleiman Abbas, member representing Gassol 1 constituency in the Taraba House of Assembly.

After inspecting some of the now functional boreholes at Garin Abba in Gassol Local Government Area on Sunday, the Reps member, Gambo Mubarak said the three of them contributed about N10 million to repair the boreholes due to the pressing needs for clean drinking water in the area.

According to him, as representatives of the people, they owed it a duty to respond to the needs of those who elected them adding that communities in Gassol and Bali federal constituencies were faced with an acute shortage of clean drinking water due to the malfunctioning of the boreholes.

Likewise, Abbas said the joint venture with his senior colleagues had enabled him repair about 116 boreholes within his Gassol 1 constituency. He commended Sen. Yusuf and Rep. Mubarak for partnering with him.

Meanwhile, the State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Mr Ibrahim El-Sudi, commended the legislators for the rehabilitation exercise.

He showed appreciation to Abbas for embarking on the construction of a secondary school at Garin Abba and culverts in Garin Bello which are all in his constituency. He beckoned on other politicians to emulate the legislators by providing dividends of democracy to their people.

Taraba state is governed by a PDP governor, Darius Ishaku. He was reelected for a second time after winning the gubernatorial election of March 2019, defeating APC’s Alhaji Abubakar Sani Danladi by over 150,000 votes.
