A former Nigerian senator, Shehu Sani, on Monday said terrorist groups operating in northern Nigeria will be crushed when the masses are trained and armed to combat them.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that in northern Nigeria, bandits, Boko Haram insurgents, and its splinter; the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), are terrorizing citizens.
The Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, recently directed residents of the state, particularly farmers, to acquire guns to defend themselves against bandits and terrorists.
The directive follows what the state government describes as the deteriorating security situation in parts of the state.
For Sani, he supports the government’s fresh notice.
“Terror groups operating in Northern Nigeria will be crushed and extinguished when the masses are organised, trained and armed to fight them. They ceaselessly kill our farmers, attack our worshiping places & schools.
“I support Zamfara State arming the masses to defend their villages,” Sani said via Twitter.
