How Oshiomhole kicked against son’s appointment as Edo commission

The Senator Representing Edo North kicked against the nomination of his son as commissioner in the state, the deputy governor, Dennis Idahosa has claimed.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Idahosa said Oshiomhole’s son, Cyril has been appointed as the commissioner of health in Edo State and tasked with the responsibility of improving the health sector of the state.

He said Cyrils’ appointment did not sit well with his father, a former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Idahosa said, “This position has nothing to do with Adams Oshiomhole. In fact, Adams opposed it. He was against the nomination because of the vision the governor has for the people of Edo state.”

According to Idahosa, Cyril has impressive credentials that make him more than qualified for the role.

“Cyril is a seasoned medical doctor. He studied in Nigeria and went on to further his studies in the United States. He is fully qualified to be in the cabinet,” Idahosa said.

He also said that being the son of the former chairman of the ruling party or a senator representing a district in the state should not disqualify Cyril from any appointment in the state.

“Senator Adams Oshiomhole is a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and his son, like any other individual, has his own destiny.

“Cyril is a seasoned medical doctor. He studied in Nigeria and went on to further his studies in the United States. He is fully qualified to be in the cabinet.

“The fact that he is Oshiomhole’s son does not disqualify him from holding a position he is competent to manage. He will serve as Commissioner for Health based on merit,” he said.
