Deji Adeyanju, a former Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and government critic, on Friday claimed that security chiefs “collude with” the bandits terrorising Nigeria’s ‘wild wild West’.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Adeyanju was reacting to Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State speaking about the identity and movement of bandits.
The National Security Adviser (NSA) Babagana Monguno had on Thursday condemned the Kaduna governor for ‘parroting’ confidential information to the terrorists and kidnappers, making it difficult for security operatives to locate their hideouts.
Responding to the news, Adeyanju said he concurs with El Rufai.
“I may not like El Rufai but on this, he did not talk too much. The currently [sic] security heads have no plans to go after bandits. From all indications, they collude with them and are simply doing business with the lives of Nigerians. They love the insecurity business in the country,” Adeyanju wrote on his known Twitter handle.
About 3,000 people were killed and almost 1,500 kidnapped across Nigeria in the first three months of 2022.
