“I am not distracted, not interested” – Wike speaks on political tension in Rivers state

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has firmly stated that he remains undistracted and uninterested in the political tensions in his home state, Rivers.

Instead, the minister said he is fully committed to his responsibilities in Abuja.

Wike made this clear during an inspection tour of several projects set for commissioning by President Bola Tinubu to mark his first anniversary.

He reiterated his focus on delivering key infrastructural projects in the nation’s capital and ensuring their timely completion.

He also expressed confidence in the progress made, noting that most projects are nearing completion.

“I am not distracted. If I am distracted, you wouldn’t see this performance here. I focus on my work. I am not interested.

“I am the Minister of FCT; the works are going on. If distracted, how will these works be progressing? I am not even thinking about it at all,” Wike assured.

Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress of the road works inspected and praised the contractors for adhering to the specified timelines.

He noted that preparations for the inauguration of various projects are in their final stages, with the events scheduled to start on May 27 and run through June 6.

“This is the final inspection regarding the preparedness for the inauguration of various projects. From what we have seen, we believe we are ready for the commissioning from 27th May and will end on 6th June.

“It is going to be a nine-day long event. We are happy, and contractors are meeting up. All the promises they made have been fulfilled, and we have also fulfilled our part to ensure we have cash back-up. None of them is complaining in terms of cash,” Wike said.

Wike also announced that the Abuja Metroline will begin commercial operations on May 27, following approval from the President.
