Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory has expressed concerns over the level of empowerment of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State.
Wike while speaking during his monthly media chat with some journalists said APC was having the upper hand in terms of politics in the state.
According to Wike, his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has a lot of work to do to regain trust and its position within the state.
He said, “What is going on now, I have never seen the level of empowerment of any State than Rivers State, in terms of political appointment.
“It is a problem for me as a member of PDP. Since the history of Rivers state, be it military or civilian, we have never had that kind of political appointment at the federal level, never.
“So it’s a threat, even when you’re preaching, the people will ask you what are you preaching?” Wike queried.
He added, “Boni road, they have almost completed it, so what are you trying to tell us? Look at the Eleme area where you have the refinery, it’s almost completed. So, you have to be careful.”
When asked whether the APC was a threat to him in Rivers State, Wike said, “Yes, it’s a threat. You have to face reality. Whether PDP likes it or not, they had the opportunity.
“The only thing that is going for me now and that is why I won my Local Government is because my people believe and still have that faith in me,” the former Rivers State governor stated.
