“I don’t support attacks on party leaders” – Senator Kalu warns Abia APC spokesman

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has distanced himself from controversial statements reportedly made by Chief Okey Ezeala, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State.

On Sunday, August 25, Kalu, a former governor of the southeast state, issued a caution to Ezeala, urging him to differentiate his personal opinions from those of the party.

In a statement released by his media office and signed by George Maduka in Abuja, Kalu made it clear that Ezeala does not have the authority to speak on his behalf and should refrain from using his name to promote divisive views.

“Okey Ezeala does not work in the Senate Office of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. He does not speak for the Senator and cannot express opinions that contradict those of the distinguished senator,” part of the statement read.

Kalu expressed his commitment to fostering unity within the APC, stressing that he does not support the divisive rhetoric or the attacks on party leaders attributed to Ezeala.

He reiterated his belief in strengthening the APC for future success in Abia State and urged Ezeala to consult with party executives, particularly the state party chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononugbo, before making public statements.

The senator concluded by stating that statements that do not promote peace and unity within the party should be disregarded as they do not reflect his views or identity.
