“I Have Forgiven President Muhammadu Buhari” – Ortom Declares, Urges Others to Do the Same

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has announced that he has forgiven President Muhammadu Buhari for the criticisms directed at his administration.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the governor made this declaration during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘The Morning Show’.

Ortom expressed his displeasure with the presidency’s attempts to blame his government for the ongoing violence in the state. He dismissed these efforts as futile attempts to distort the truth and manipulate history.

It is worth noting that President Buhari had earlier apologised to Nigerians who were dissatisfied with his administration and called for their forgiveness.

Governor Ortom, citing the teachings of the Christian Holy Book, stated that he has chosen to forgive President Buhari.

He emphasised the importance of forgiveness, as failing to forgive would mean that God would not forgive as well. The governor, a devout Christian, affirmed his decision to extend forgiveness to the President.

He said, “When you don’t forgive, it means God too will not forgive. Me, as a student of the Bible and as a born-again Christian, I have forgiven President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Furthermore, Governor Ortom expressed optimism regarding the incoming administration led by President-elect Bola Tinubu.

He expressed hope for improved performance, urging the new administration to prioritise the well-being of the people and provide support, security, economic development, and peace.

While sharing his thoughts, Governor Ortom advised President Buhari not to leave Nigeria but instead remain in the country to collaborate with the Tinubu administration.

He believed that by working together, they could uplift both the state and the nation from their current challenges to greater heights.

“He doesn’t need to go to the Niger Republic. He should stay here (in Nigeria) with us. All of us should work with the incoming administration, and by the grace of God, we shall go from bottom to top,” Governor Ortom emphasised.
