Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed his regret for challenging President Bola Tinubu in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary, acknowledging that he and other aspirants would not have vied for the APC presidential ticket if they had been aware of Tinubu’s vision for advancing the country at an earlier stage.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Akpabio, the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, commended Lagos as a role model for development among Nigerian states, emphasising that the individual who designed the framework for Lagos is also capable of replicating such progress at the national level.

Reiterating his commitment to collaborating with the executive branch, Akpabio vowed to ensure that Nigerians reap the benefits of democracy.
He stated, “Considering the accomplishments of the President in Lagos, we can rest assured that Nigeria is in capable hands. If we had known this was your plan for the country, we would not have contested against you in the party primaries. The few decisions you have made have significantly contributed to the nation’s development.”
