“I Was Poisoned at PDP Office, Suffered Liver and Kidney Failure” – Wike Makes Revelation

Nyesom Wike, former Governor of Rivers State, made a shocking revelation, disclosing that he was a target of numerous political attacks, including a poisoning incident that caused severe liver and kidney failure.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that at a family thanksgiving held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in the Rumuepirikom Deanery of the Diocese of Niger Delta North, Wike recounted the harrowing experience he faced.

Wike recounted how he was poisoned at the campaign secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2018, leading to a health problem that was diagnosed during his hospitalisation in Beirut, Lebanon.

The former governor disclosed that the poisoning incident occurred in December 2018, on the day he was supposed to attend the thanksgiving ceremony of his former Chief of Staff, Emeka Woke. According to him, the poisoning left him incapacitated and confined to his room.

Recalling the events, Wike stated, “From that Sunday, I never came down from my room. It was bad, but those who attended the January 1 state banquet of 2019 will know that I never spoke that day. I just sat there and instructed my deputy governor to speak on my behalf.”

The severity of the situation became evident after the banquet, prompting Wike to be urgently flown out of the country to seek medical treatment. In Beirut, the doctors delivered a prognosis, revealing that his kidney and liver were no longer functioning.

However, as was narrated by the former governor, in a miraculous turn of events, divine intervention led to the restoration of his failed organs. Within a week, Wike’s health dramatically improved, and he was able to return to Nigeria to continue his second-term campaign in 2019.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who was also present at the event, expressed solidarity with Wike, stating that he, too, had faced attacks from political adversaries.
