I will support those who support Tinubu – FCT minister, Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on Abuja residents to support leaders who have shown loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, stressing that his backing will be reserved for those who align with the President’s vision.

Speaking on Thursday at the flag-off of Lot 2 of the Water Supply Project in Karu, Wike commended former FCT senator Philip Aduda and AMAC chairman Christopher Maikalangu for their contributions to development.

“There is a road where you said is about 2km, is it not? Consider it done. You know, one thing about government and politics: support those who have capacity to bring something to the people. Support those that government will listen to,” Wike said.

Wike promised to construct a 2km road in Karu, based on Aduda’s request, while highlighting Maikalangu’s record of attracting government projects to his council.

“For me, I’m here to talk about those who have access to government and bring something to the people. The chairman has access to us. Anything he tells us, we will do.

“This is the only man I know. If he wins as chairman of AMAC, we will give him whatever he wants. I don’t know the party he belongs to. But I know that he supports Tinubu. Anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him,” the former Rivers State Governor declared.

Wike highlighted several projects credited to Maikalangu’s efforts, including the Saburi Road, Kabusa-Takushere Road, Deidei Road, and other rehabilitated infrastructure.

The FCT Minister criticised past administrations for neglecting Karu communities, especially in the area of water supply, noting that President Tinubu had delivered on his promise of providing potable water to satellite towns.

“We’ve had a government that stayed here for five years, isn’t that correct? We’ve also had one that stayed for eight years, isn’t that correct? Did any of those governments provide you with water?

“Did this government promise to give you water? Have we now come to give you water? That means you have a covenant with this government. And as someone once said: agreement is agreement. The people of Karu will always remember the government that remembered them,” Wike stated.
