Anambra state residents defy sit-at-home order by Simon Ekpa

Residents of Anambra state have begun full commercial activities neglecting the two-week sit-at-home order by the Finland-based factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa.

Politics Nigeria learnt that in Awka, the state capital, traders, businesses and transporters, including banks, opened for commercial activities.

Also, in Eke-Awka, Nkwo Amaenyi and Timber markets, traders and buyers came out en masse to transact their legitimate businesses.

Commuters were seen at various motor parks, especially at the popular transport terminals booking and boarding to travel. Commercial buses and tricycles also operated fully without any form of molestation.

It was the same situation elsewhere in the state. In Onitsha, Ekwulobia and Nnewi, markets and banks were open for business, as people were seen moving about freely.

Governor Charles Soludo had, a few days ago, held meetings with stakeholders, such as traders, commercial bank managers and others, over the illegal sit-at-home order.
