The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Thursday urged Borno South Senator Ali Ndume to ensure the Senate approves sufficient funds for the execution of projects in Abuja.
Wike called on the Senator to advocate for an increased budget for the FCT administration, assuring that any additional funds would be properly utilised.
The appeal came during the official flag-off of the installation of Integrated (Hybrid) Solar Lighting in Abuja’s districts and expressways under the Light Up Abuja programme: Lots I and II.
Addressing Senator Ndume, Wike said, “Senator Ndume, I know where you are living; it has no street lights. But go home and sleep now without the street light.
“That is why each time you are in the Senate, make sure when we ask for one naira, you increase it to five naira, knowing fully well the money will be utilised. That’s what is key.”
He further expressed gratitude, adding, “Thank you for your support, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. Every day you support our work, it’s very important.
I thank all of you and invite you to join us as we flag off the light of our work.”
