Ighodalo: ‘Shaibu held an event in his house not PDP gov’ship primary election’

Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the forthcoming Edo State governorship election, has said that he will loose sleep over the declaration by Philip Shaibu over his victory at the primary poll.

Ighodalo was declared winner of the PDP primary exercise which took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City, Edo State.

Shaibu, the current Edo State deputy governor, was declared winner of factional governorship primary election that reportedly held at his residence in Benin City, the state capital, on Thursday.

Shaibu has insisted that the election which produced Ighodalo was marred by irregularities adding that he remains the authentic candidate of the PDP in the state.

Reacting to Shaibu’s comment, Ighodalo said the event at the deputy governor’s house was not worth talking about.

“I will not lose sleep over Shaibu’s declaration as PDP candidate. I won’t waste time talking about it,” Ighodalo told AriseTV.

“When you hold an event in your house you can give it any name you desire, I’m sure the party will deal with this issue with the deputy governor, so we don’t get into unnecessary disrepute,” he added.

Ighodalo further stressed that he was not in anyway close to Governor Godwin Obaseki or his preferred candidate as insinuated by some Nigerians.

“There are other aspirants who are closer to Obaseki than I am. I don’t understand why some people assume that I am his preferred candidate. We keep our friendship at a business level. I came into this process by myself,” he added.
