All eight employees of MRS Oil Nigeria Plc who were kidnapped in Lagos last week have been successfully released.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the victims regained their freedom on Sunday night in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State.
This newspaper learnt that the oil workers were abducted on Monday around 6pm while travelling on a private boat from Lagos Island to Lekki. Reportedly, their captors forcefully transferred them to their own boat, leaving the workers’ vessel behind, along with their personal belongings.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos Police Command, confirmed the release of the kidnapped oil workers on Monday morning. However, when questioned about any arrests made in connection with the incident, Hundeyin stated that no arrests had been made, declining to provide further details or comments on the matter.
At this time, it remains unclear whether a ransom was paid to secure their release. The circumstances surrounding their freedom have yet to be fully disclosed.
