Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, nicknamed the “dancing governor,” has said he has the potential to contest for the presidency in the future.
In an interview with Arise News, Adeleke said, “I’m qualified to be the president of Nigeria, so why not?”
However, Adeleke, currently in his first term as governor, acknowledged that his political future remains divinely guided. “If God says that it’s time for me to become president, I will grab it and take care of my people. I’m not going to say no, anything can happen,” he said.
Adeleke added that his immediate focus is on transforming Osun. “I’m working 24/7 to make sure that Osun is great,” he said. He acknowledged inheriting a sizeable debt but said efforts are ongoing to address it, including gradually paying half salaries to public servants and pensioners.
Adeleke further outlined his commitment to alleviating the challenges faced by the people of Osun. “I’ve already formed a lot of committees and they are bringing everything,” he said. “I gave them free medical care and all that. So that’s part of the palliatives to cushion. Even the health care.”
