“I’m Ready to Lead Coalition Against Tinubu, APC” – Atiku Restates Commitment for 2027 Presidency

Former Vice President and the 2023 presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has expressed readiness to lead a united opposition force to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

His declaration came amidst jubilation within the PDP following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of the victories of governors in Bauchi, Plateau, Cross River, and Zamfara states, all PDP strongholds.

In a statement issued by his media office, Atiku described the court’s decision as “a triumph for democracy and the rule of law,” further offering congratulations to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, elected under the banner of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

“This is a moment for celebration, not just for the PDP and our governors, but for all Nigerians who value fairness and justice,” Atiku said. He again restated the role of a robust opposition in safeguarding democracy, stating, “To truly strengthen our democracy, we need a united front. I am prepared, as I have always been, to lead the charge alongside our leaders and governors for the good of our nation.”

While acknowledging the court’s verdict as “a testament to the good governance principles that the PDP champions,” Atiku also urged the governors – Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Caleb Muftwang of Plateau, and Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom – to leverage this victory as a springboard to “expand the scope of the positive change they have already initiated.”

With the legal challenges surrounding the 2023 elections settled, Atiku said the PDP is poised to play the role of the main opposition party.
