The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the November 11 governorship election in Imo State, Athan Achonu, has asked the state governor, Hope Uzodimma, to begin preparing his handover note.
Achonu, who spoke in Owerri, the state capital, while unveiling his running mate, Tony Nwulu, said that the All Progressives Congress-led administration had ruined the state.
If elected, the Labour Party candidate said that his administration would prioritise security, human capital development, employment of youths, infrastructural development, agricultural revolution and tourism.
Achonu said that the Labour Party manifesto provides the people of the state the unique opportunity to elect a government that would make life easy for them.
He said, “Today, I am unveiling my running mate, Tony Nwulu, to my Governorship Campaign Council and our dear party faithful.
“Tony, a former member of the House of Reps (Oshodi-Isolo II Constituency) is an Economist and Alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education, Harvard University, USA.
“Nwulu, a cerebral young man with vast experience in corporate governance, economic growth approaches, and youth development, also sponsored the largest youth-led bill- ‘the Not Too Young To Run Bill’ signed into law in 2018.
“He strongly shares in my vision of excellence in leadership, youth inclusiveness, sustainable development, and security of our communities.
“Together, we shall build synergy to take Imo to higher heights. We will defeat the current APC-led administration in the state.”
