Impeached Lagos Speaker Obasa Reacts To Reports Of Nursing Governorship Ambition

The impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa has reacted to reports that he nurses the ambition to succeed Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the governor of the state.

Obasa was impeached by the lawmakers of the Lagos Assembly while he was away in the United States of America.

He was immediately replaced by Mojisola Meranda who earlier served as the Deputy Speaker of the House.

However, upon his return to Lagos on Saturday, January 25, 2025, the impeached Speaker addressed the press and his supporters on various issues.

Concerning his governorship ambition which many have said is the key reason for the impeachment move against him, Obasa said nursing such ambition has never been a sin.

The embattled former Speaker queried, “Having ambition to become the governor is not a sin or is it?

To this, the crowd responded in unison, No!

Obasa continuing said, “However, I’ve said it on the floor of the floor of the House when the budget was presented that I have no thought of governorship.

“But that does not mean that I am not qualified or lack experience.

“So I still maintain that position and in the whole of Lagos State, let any leader, anybody come out to come out to explain that Obasa approached me and he said that he wants to become a governor, it is as simple as that,” he noted.
