INEC begins distribution of sensitive materials as Katsina prepares for LG poll

The Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission has began the distribution of sensitive election materials across the 34 Local Government Areas in the state.

The chairman of KSIEC, Lawal Alhassan while speaking at a press conference said the process is in line with the commission’s preparation ahead of the LG polls in Katsina.

Alhassan said KSIEC will start distributing materials, especially to the hard-to-reach areas to avoid late arrival of materials and early access ahead of the poll.

“I wish to let this all-important gathering know that, adequate arrangements were made by the commission and other security agencies to transport these materials to their respective destinations intact and safely.

“I equally want to inform you that all necessary arrangements were made for a hitch-free conduct of the exercise,” Alhassan noted.

He also mentioned that the commission had recruited and trained over 20,000 ad-hoc staff ahead of the election.

According to the chairman, the ad-hoc staff would participate in the poll across all polling units in Katsina.

He also assured the public that the commission is committed to delivering fair, peaceful and credible election and abide by the tenets of the law.

“The commission had this time planned to make the distribution of the sensitive election materials early in order to enable the timely distributions to all the designated centres across the 34 Local Government Areas, 361 political wards and 6,652 polling units in the state,” he said.
