Enugu Monday Sit-at-Home Continues Despite Gov Mbah’s Order

The cessation of the sit-at-home order directed by the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has been disregarded as shops and businesses remain shut today.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the sit-at-home directive is typically observed every Monday in the southeastern state.

Governor Mbah had previously taken a firm stance against the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and their sit-at-home order, declaring its cancellation through a statement released on June 3.

The governor warned of potential consequences for businesses or establishments that chose to comply with the banned group’s directives within the state.

Nevertheless, it is apparent today that all markets are non-operational, while the streets and motor parks appear deserted during the early hours of Monday.

Furthermore, schools, offices, banks, shops, supermarkets, filling stations, hotels, and other public places remain closed.

However, the presence of military and police personnel patrolling the streets has successfully maintained security, with no reported incidents of breaches thus far.
