The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will soon make public the report on the conduct of the 2023 General Election, as well as the report of the review committee that analyzed the election’s conduct.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made this known at an induction retreat for new Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in Lagos.
He stressed the importance of reviewing performance, reappraising processes, and discussing innovations to improve electoral services.
Yakubu reminded the RECs that elections are ongoing, with numerous activities like voter registration, and noted that the retreat was timely, given the upcoming governorship polls in Edo and Ondo states, and five pending bye-elections.
He also disclosed that INEC will hold four major elections before the next general election in 2027, including the Anambra State governorship election, Ekiti and Osun state governorship elections, and the Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
