Intrigue as APC Governor Gives Appointments to EFCC, ICPC, DSS Officials

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has sparked intrigue with his recent appointments of representatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Department of State Service (DSS), and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to manage relief funds for flood victims.

The recent flood disaster, which ravaged the state on September 10, left thousands of families displaced and destroyed homes, infrastructure, and agricultural lands.

In response, Governor Zulum established a 35-member disbursement committee to distribute relief funds and items donated to the victims.

Chairing the committee is Baba Gujubawu, Governor Zulum’s special adviser on monitoring/evaluation, alongside co-chair Ibrahim Umara, a professor from the University of Maiduguri.

The governor, at the inauguration of the committee on Monday, demanded transparency and accountability and directed that every naira allocated for relief reaches those suffering.

The state’s relief account has received N4.4 billion in donations, with a total pledged amount of N13.2 billion as of Sunday.
