1. Coronavirus Lockdown: APC Speaks On Incessant Robberies, Looting

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to incessant robberies and looting in many parts of Nigeria following the Coronavirus lockdown. The party in a statement sent to POLITICS NIGERIA by its National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, on Wednesday, assured Nigerians that the emerging opportunistic crimes will soon be brought under check.

2. COVID-19: President Buhari Congratulates British PM, Boris Johnson

After his recovery from Coronavirus and discharge from the hospital, Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has sent a congratulatory message to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The Nigerian leader felicitated with the UK Prime Minister in a congratulatory letter dated April 14, 2020, and issued by his media aide, Femi Adesina.

3. COVID-19: “I Have Not Been Confirmed Negative Yet” – El-Rufai

Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-rufai has revealed that he is yet to test negative for the deadly COVID-19 virus. El-rufai, in a statement on Wednesday, revealed that he will personally announce when he tests negative.

4. COVID-19: Group Predicts Famine In Northern Nigeria

The Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, has said unless urgent steps are taken against Covid-19, the North will be hit by famine. Although 373 cases of the pandemic have been recorded in nineteen states and the FCT, only eight northern states have been affected. The CNG, in a statement on Wednesday signed by their spokesperson, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, said there was a pervading fear of impending famine and acute food shortage in the North as a fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic unless urgent steps were taken to avert it.

5. Coronavirus: Kwara, Osun Residents Re-Stock Ahead Of 14 Days Lockdown [PHOTOS]

Residents of Kwara and Osun states stormed markets in large numbers to re-stock before the two weeks of lockdown begins. POLITICS NIGERIA on Wednesday visited some markets in the two states to observe the situation. When our correspondent reached Owode market in Offa, Kwara State, the part of the market where foodstuffs are sold, were crowded. Some of the residents who spoke with POLITICS NIGERIA decried the inadequacy of the palliatives distributed by the state government.

6. Osun Discharges Six Coronavirus Patients After Recovery

The Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, announced that the state has discharged an additional six patients who have recovered from Coronavirus. Mr Oyetola made this known via his official twitter handle on Wednesday.

7. Governor Makinde To Donate Blood For Coronavirus Cure Trial

As the cure for Coronavirus has not been found, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has said he is ready to donate his blood sample to medical researchers for coronavirus cure trial. POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the governor had said the dreaded disease can be cured with local herbs if the right environment is provided.  In a tweet on Wednesday, the governor said he will give his blood sample to experts researching on post-infection protection against Coronavirus in Nigeria.

8. Fire Engulfs CAC Headquarters In Abuja Amidst COVID-19 Lockdown

A fire outbreak has occurred at the headquarters of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) located in Maitama, Abuja on Wednesday morning. POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this is coming exactly one week after the headquarters of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation was gutted by fire. According to reports, the fire is said to have engulfed the last floor of the seven-storey building, destroying valuables and other items.

9. Boko Haram Leader, Shekau Blasts Buhari Over Coronavirus Lockdown

The factional leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, has blasted President Muhammadu Buhari over the lockdown order against social gatherings including mosques. Mr Shekau spoke in an audio recording obtained by a conflict reporting newspaper, HumAngle based in Abuja.

10. Lagos Govt Announces Death Of Another COVID-19 Patient

The Lagos State Government has announced the death of another COVID-19 related patient, barely 24 hours after the sixth death was recorded. The State Ministry of Health made this known via its verified Twitter account on Wednesday. According to the statement, 25 new cases were recorded, bringing the total confirmed cases in the state to 217.
