Mujtaba Abubakar Abba, the Principal Private Secretary to deposed Kano Emir, Muhammad Sanusi, has relinquished his position.
Abba also bears the Falakin Kano when during Sanusi’s reign
In a letter sent to the state government, which was obtained by POLITICS NIGERIA, the palace official announced the voluntary resignation.
“I have also voluntarily relinquished the title of Falakin Kano,” He added.
“I hereby wish to express my sincere gratitude to the Emirate Council for offering me the opportunity to serve and I also thank the entire staff of the Emirate Council for the cooperation they rendered to me during the period of my service. Please accept the assurances of my esteemed regards always,” Abba concluded.
Recall that Sanusi, also a former Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, was dethroned and replaced with his in-law, Ado Bayero.
The Kano state Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, accused him of insubordination, an allegation that prompted the dethronement of Monday.
While some saw the action of Ganduje as a political witch-hunt, others reference the provisions of the constitution that gives the Governor powers over the traditional institutions.
