ISWAP terrorists abduct passengers in Borno

The Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on Sunday laid ambush along Banki Road, in Borno state, North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, and abducted several passengers aboard commercial vehicles, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.

Details of the incident still remain sketchy, but this newspaper gathered that the passengers were whisked away to an unknown destination.

Recall that Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno, last November, reopened the Bama-Banki road, where this latest abduction happened. The 65km road, which connects Nigeria to countries such as Cameroon and Sudan, was closed for nine years due to Boko Haram atrocities in the area.

Although Governor Zulum earlier this month predicted that Boko Haram insurgency will end by 2023, the lawbreakers continue to launch attacks.

According to Zulum, kinetic measures alone will not end the ‘war’. He advised that political solution be applied.
