Nine people were injured as a result of five Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPGs) fired by members of Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) into Wulgo town of Ngala Local Government Area of Borno state.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the terrorists fired the RPGs into the town at about 1:30 pm on Monday from a location in outskirts of the town.

It followed the distribution of relief cards to the people in the community, supervised by Hajia Zainab Gimba, a serving lawmaker, and some members of Borno’s state executive council.

Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, the state governor, was due to arrive the town to supervise the distribution.

It is understood that the victims are currently hospitalised: two of them were said to be members of the Civilian JTF.

Of the five RPGs, two fell at Wulgo market where the people were gathered to receive the cards, while the other three fell in open places in the town.

The governor who was in Gomboru, with Kashim Shettima, his predecessor and senator representing Borno central senatorial district, nonetheless went ahead to supervise the distribution of the food and non-food items just as he did in Gomboru and Ngala.

This is the fourth time ISWAP is attacking Wulgo after it has been resettled in late 2021.

In their last attack on the town, the terrorists lost two cars and some of their members to the Multinational Joint Task Force troops of Cameroon and Nigeria.

Though the border town has been resettled and appears to be difficult for the terrorists to overrun, with the presence of MNJTF, the people, especially those going out for fishing and firewood keep reporting the presence of the terrorists moving around.

Most of the terrorists are hybernating in Goman, Zannari, Bulachasaye, Chukun Ngudoye, Tumbumaye, Bukarmairambe, and Arrinna.
