Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, on Friday condemned Uju Anya, a lecturer at the Carnegie Mellon University, USA, over her remarks regarding Queen Elizabeth II of England.
POLITICS NIGERIA had reported how Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday aged 96.
Earlier on Thursday, Anya, an associate professor of second language acquisition at Carnegie Mellon University, in a series of tweets, denounced the late monarch.
Before The Queen of England died, Anya had wished her “excruciating pain”.
The Nigerian-born academic had also accused the now-late monarch of sponsoring the “genocide” that led to her family being displaced.
Anya, whose father is Igbo, did not explain the exact context of her comment concerning what she referred to as “sponsored the genocide that massacred and displaced half my family”.
However, her post may be connected to the Nigerian-Biafran civil war of 1967 to 1970.
Anya’s tweets have received lots of mixed reactions on social media.
“It is not in our culture in Igboland to speak evil about the dead especially when the person is no longer there to defend himself or herself. This is despicable and unknown in Igbo setting, culture and tradition,” Igbokwe said via Facebook.
In another post, he wrote: “Every Igbo man or woman, every Nigerian should rise up to condemn this reckless and uncultured behavior.
“This is not our culture, this is not our tradition, this is not the way we were brought up.
“A bunch of untrained, uncivilized and mannerless people from Igboland are making us look like a generation of haters and bigots and good and wonderful people from Igbo are keeping mute.
“It is time to reclaim Igboland and change the narrative. If you tell a lie a thousand times people will take it as the truth.”
I would rather pray and wish a good GRACEFUL life she lived and exemplified with a long life.
WHO SO EVER WISHES HELL GETS THE HELL.
This fellow who nurses bitterness in her soul does not belong in the ivory tower. The Carnegie Mellon University, USA, where she is a lecturer has since expressed disappointment with Uju Anya, a lecturer in its institution, over her remarks regarding Queen Elizabeth II of England. Below.
“The university, in reaction to the development, said although it believes in “free expression”, it does not condone the views expressed by the professor.
“We do not condone the offensive and objectionable messages posted by Uju Anya today on her personal social media account,” the post reads.
“Free expression is core to the mission of higher education, however, the views she shared absolutely do not represent the values of the institution no the standards of discourse we seek to foster.””
THE QUEEN HAD NOTHING DOING WITH THE SELF-DESTRUCT MISADVENTURE OF HER THOUGHTLESS PEOPLE WHO MANUFACTURED AN UNECESSARY WAR THAT INFLICTED PERMANENT WOES AND MISERIES ON HER PEOPLE.
The potentials and penchant for crying wolf all the time even when opportunity presents itself for the biafraud people to avail themselves of it can be appreciated in the below link.
