The retired military officer said this while speaking to newsmen at the sideline of an event in memory of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sardauna Ahmadu Bello in Kaduna.

He also called for unity among leaders and youth alike across the region.

He said he was ready to champion for the needed development to be experienced in the North.

He said, “There is today not a single joint central fund in developing educational development in the North. There is no programme as such.

“The most unfortunate thing that you see everywhere are traces of poverty, shamefully. I’m a Northerner, that’s most shameful,” Al-Mustapha said.

He further condemned the deterioration of social values, institutions and even moral decadence which he said has led to the proliferation of crimes across the region.

Stating that he was ready to work with key figures and groups to bring back decency and sectorial development, Al-Mustapha said the people would be the beneficiaries of unity and bridging of social gaps in the region.

“It is better to hurt people and get it back on course for us to achieve what we desire, so that the country at the final end, would be the beneficiary of the unity in the North,” Al-Mustapha said.
