Recent reports indicate Nigerians have emerged as the predominant nationality seeking refuge in Ireland.
Sinn Féin President of the Irish political party, Sinn Féin, Mary Lou McDonald, highlighted the surge in asylum seekers from Nigeria during a recent parliamentary session.
She also expressed concerns over the government’s handling of the influx.
She said the government’s incompetence on migration is “off the charts,” making it appear that nobody capable is in charge.
She added that the government had made a complete mess of the situation in recent days, with a “chaotic approach” and no plan to get to grips with the influx.
The issue has sparked debates in political circles, with calls for more transparent policies and decisive action to address the evolving situation.
