Jigawa senator donates N10million allowance to students (Photos)

Senator Walin Kazaure, representing Jigawa Northwest Senatorial Zone, has donated his 10 million naira furniture allowance to students’ scholarships at the tertiary institutions in his constituency.

Senator Kazaure demonstrated the gesture during a ceremony at the Wali Education Foundation Center (WEFC) in the Ringim Local Government Area of the state.

The students were selected from 137 wards of the 12 Local Government Areas of the zone. The scholarship targeted 274 students from across the 137 wards, which makes two students per ward.

The foundation was established to support students, youths, women, and orphans through education and entrepreneurial skills.

While making the donation, the senator said the support is for science and engineering students to create skills among youths in the zone.

He, however, assured that other studies are equally critical and would be considered in future.

His words: “This support is for science and engineering students. It is not that other studies are not good, but we want our students to have skills; this is also the first phase; we will continue supporting students in this zone.”

He said his foundation would continue to support agriculture, health, and other entrepreneurial skills to revamp the socio-economic standard of the people.

His words: “Our priority goes to human welfare, ensuring better life through agriculture, entrepreneurial skills, education and other benefitting programmes.

“As promised during our campaigns, we entered politics to develop our community. Today marks one month since our inauguration as lawmakers.

“As you can all see, we have begun to change the narrative in politics. A clear example is our recent decision to reject the military action against the coup juntas in Niger.

“After careful consideration, we realized that we have a long and close relationship with Niger, especially those of us from northern Nigeria. We have family, marriage, and religious ties with them.

“History has shown that war is never the answer. Reconciliation is always the better option. That is why we northern senators rejected the military action.”
