10 things President Buhari told Osinbajo, Governors, others at APC NEC meeting

Politics Nigeria has developed a list of 10 points President Muhammadu Buhari highlighted during his speech at a National Executive Committee, NEC meeting organized by the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Victor Giadom.

Buhari expressed serious concerns over the current crisis rocking the party.

  1. PARTY GAINS MAY BE LOST

President Buhari, in his speech to members of the committee, disclosed that the current crisis could rob the party of its gains/wins. In his words; “the gains of the party could be reversed as conflicts overshadow the primary objective of service to the people, urging members to refocus on the larger picture and place more emphasis on uniting the party.”

2. ISSUES FACING PARTY ARE WORRISOME

The President also stated that the current issues rocking the party should worry all members. He said; “Fellow party members, this is a very crucial moment in the life of our party and it is with a deep sense of concern that I stand before you today to speak as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who has been elected on the platform of our great party – the All Progressives Congress.”

“The issues currently confronting our party at this time are such that should worry every party member.”

3. CONCERNS OVER SHIFTING LOYALTY WITHIN THE PARTY

The President also expressed worry over the shifting loyalty within the party and inconsistency in leadership, which had opened it to mockery.

4. UNTRUST WORTHY NWC MEMBERS

The President also disclosed that certain members of the NWC were not very clear with their intentions for the party. He said; “At the moment, our great party is faced with internal wrangling; there are on-going litigations amongst some party members and we cannot clearly ascertain the status of certain National Working Committee (NWC) members.”

5. FORTUNES OF THE PARTY IN JEOPARDY

The President also stated that the fortunes of the party are in Jeopardy due to internal conflict. He said; “Confronted with these issues, it is obvious that the fortunes of the party are currently in jeopardy, administration of our party is becoming impossible and there is consequently an urgent need for intervention to immediately arrest further drifts and internal wrangling which may lead to total disintegration.”

6. PARTY BEGINNING TO SELF-DESTRUCT

President Buhari also raised alarm that the party was gradually self-destructing and that it was ‘gut-wrenching’ to witness. In his words; “What we see clearly emerging, is that we are beginning to self-destruct. This, my dear party members, is not just regrettable but utterly gut-wrenching.”

7. DISCONTINUATION OF PENDING LITIGATIONS

Offering a way out of the crisis, the President called on party members to withdraw all cases in court and pending litigations as this would help with reconciliation efforts.

“The meeting may adopt the developed resolution as contained in the agenda and pass resolutions including approving the immediate discontinuation of all pending litigations involving the party and its members.” he said

8. ONDO AND EDO ELECTIONS

The President also commented on ongoing preparations for the Upcoming Edo and Ondo state gubernatorial elections. He ordered the ratification of the primary elections conducted in Edo State.

“We must be alive to the time and the task that is before us. As we all know, we are immediately confronted with the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Edo and Ondo States. Therefore, this is the time to get our acts together.” he said.

9. DISSOLUTION OF NWC

The President ordered the immediate dissolution of the party National Working Committee(NWC), which would greatly assist in healing the party.

10. APPOINTMENT OF CARETAKER COMMITTEE

President Buhari also directed that the party should set up a caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Planning committee after the dissolution of the NWC. Governor of Yobe State, Mallam Mai Buni, was appointed Caretaker National Chairman, while Senator John Akpanudoede was designated Caretaker National Secretary.

  1. I think that this party is hunted by what they painted long a go for their fellow parties who were in power now it’s a high time you accept responsibility please. God bless Nigeria. But remember you are about to create more problems on not only the party but our great Nation Nigeria by disengaging the npower volunteers
