Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers State, on Wednesday, asked for respect from his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to Wike, his camp: the governors of Benue, Oyo and Abia states, Samuel Ortom, Seyi Makinde and Okezie Ikpeazu respectively, deserve respect because they have executed projects towards campaigns for the 2023 general elections.
The governor was speaking during the commissioning of the Emohua Campus of Rivers State University.
“All this period of commissioning, the only states you can see commissioning something or flagging off, are those states they said the boys, the children are in charge,” Wike said, in an apparent jibe at Iyorchia Ayu, the national chairman of the PDP.
He added: “That is why the party should respect us, and know that we are the ones campaigning, because we have what to use to campaign.
“It is not to abuse people on the pages of newspaper, or go to television to bring people who have some mental problem to defend what cannot be defended.
“Some of them cannot look at us to our faces.”
He promised to mention names of politicians in the PDP who have “419 in their DNA” soon.
