JUST IN: 21 abducted victims rescued in Kogi state within 48 hours

In a swift and coordinated operation, a joint team of security operatives, including the Nigerian Police Force, Civil Defence, and local vigilantes, successfully rescued 21 kidnapped victims along the Ajaokuta-Itobe road in Kogi State within 48 hours.

The victims, mostly travellers, had been forcefully taken to an undisclosed location within the dense forest of Ajaokuta Local Government Area.

Responding promptly to the distressing incident, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State issued immediate directives to security agencies and local vigilantes, emphasizing the urgent need for the captives’ freedom and the capture of the perpetrators.

The determined efforts of the combined security forces swiftly led to the successful release of all 21 captives.

The operation also resulted in the arrest of some kidnappers, with ongoing efforts to pursue those still at large.

Expressing relief at the positive outcome, Governor Bello commended the security operatives for their rapid and effective response.

He reiterated the importance of maintaining peace and security within Kogi State and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to making the state one of the safest in the country.

The Governor reiterated his government’s commitment to collaborating with security agencies to combat criminal elements and warned wrongdoers sternly.

He declared Kogi a no-go area for criminal activities, vowing to intensify efforts to safeguard the state’s peace and security.
