The University of Abuja has appointed Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi as the acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
The announcement was made during the valedictory Senate meeting held on the university campus on Wednesday.
Professor Maikudi, a 41-year-old expert in International Law, previously served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics.
Her new appointment comes as the tenure of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, concludes.
Na’Allah noted that Maikudi’s appointment is temporary, pending ratification by the Governing Council.
In her acceptance speech, Professor Maikudi thanked the Senate members for their confidence in her leadership.
“I want to extend my deepest respect and appreciation to you all for the strong support and unwavering commitment that you have accorded me,” she said.
Born on January 31, 1983, Maikudi is distinguished as the youngest female Professor of Law in Northwestern Nigeria and at the University of Abuja.
She attended Queens College, Lagos State, where she obtained her West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
