Senate Minority Leader and governorship aspirant in Abia State, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), POLITICS NIGERIA reports.
Abaribe had on Tuesday withdrawn from the PDP governorship race, citing lack of transparency and non-conduct of the three-man delegate congress.
The 67-year-old has been a vocal voice in the Red chamber, often calling the government out on pressing issues, and standing with Igbo people all the time.
The leadership of APGA, had last Sunday, visited Abaribe, and urged him and other ‘progressives’ to cross over. Now Abaribe has answered their call.
In an interview with the press on Friday morning, Abaribe said he had made up his mind to join APGA, adding that he will be participating in the party’s senatorial primaries on Saturday. It is understood that he has now fully registered with APGA.
The political race is now going to be interesting in Abia State.
