
A lawmaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Lucky Johnson has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party.
Johnson, the House of Assembly member representing Isuikwuato constituency announced his resignation from the PDP in a letter addressed to the Speaker, Emmanuel Emeruwa.
The defecting lawmaker said he was leaving the PDP over the lingering crisis that has rocked the party at the national and state levels.
According to him, his defection to Labour Party comes after series of consultations with some of his political mentors and leaders in the state.
He also stated that his decision to leave the PDP for the Labour Party hinges on the level of performance showcased by the Abia State governor, Alex Otti since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
Johnson further noted that henceforth, he should be addressed as a member of the Labour Party – the ruling party in the state.
