JUST IN: Adamawa governor ignores Atiku, declares support for Damagun as PDP chair

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has publicly declared his support for Ambassador Umar Damagun as the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fintiri’s endorsement of Damagun comes amid internal discord and criticism directed at the current National Working Committee of the party.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who is from Adamawa, has been a vocal critic of the Damgun-led NWC.

Fintiri seems to have towed another path by not backing Atiku’s consistent calls for a change of leadership in the PDP.

The governor wrote on X: “Solidly in support of Amb. Umar Damagum as National Chairman of @OfficialPDPNig! His leadership has restored public confidence, and we are confident he will steer the party to greater heights.”

Fintiri’s decision to back Damagum, rather than aligning with Atiku’s position, is expected to rock the former VP’s political camp.
