JUST IN: ADC demands release of detained journalist in Kebbi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded the immediate release of Hassan Mai-Waya Kangiwa, a journalist detained in Kebbi state.

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, national publicity secretary of the ADC, made the demand in a tweet on X.

Abdullahi said Kangiwa was arrested for exposing the “incompetence” of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government in the state.

He further said he would be sharing a video showing the dilapidated healthcare facility that Kangiwa reported on.

“We call on the Kebbi state government to immediately release Hassan and respect the fundamental rights of journalists to report the truth,” he wrote.

He urged Nigerians who believe in accountability and good governance to amplify the demand until Kangiwa is released and the government addresses concerns about the state’s healthcare system.

The campaign is circulating online with the hashtag #FreeHassanKangiwaNow.
