The governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo has described the recent defection of his colleague in Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno as historic.
In a statement issued on Saturday, June 7, Okpebholo said Eno’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is capable of attracting benefits to the people of the state and the South-South region.
He also said the defection of his colleagues is a huge incentive for investors in the region.
Congratulating Eno for his bold step, the Edo governor said his Akwa Ibom colleague’s decision is in alignment with the progressive ideals and the Renewed Hope mantra of President Bola Tinubu.
He also said Governor Eno’s defection is in tandem with the vision of the ruling party.
Stating that his defection from the PDP to the APC also shows that he has political foresight, Okpebhol said his colleague has demonstrated utmost committment to the Akwa Ibom people’s advancement and development of the state.
According to Okoebholo, this defection by Eno would ensure seamless access to the government at the national level for the good of his people.
“The decision by Governor Umo Eno to join the APC shows his foresight and dedication to the welfare of his people,” Okpebholo said.
Good decision based on the fact that ,the party has refused to understand that,PDP is a house for every one and may not have the power to stop a particular candidate from north from contestesting. It is time for any one who claims to have popularity in PDP from the North to contest in any party and win in Nigeria or allow the zone south produced the president.
