A building in Onipanu area of Lagos State has collapsed, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.
The incident occurred at about 1.07 am at Oke Arin street, off Shyllon Ilupeju.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the development.
“The Alpha Cobra team of Lagos State Emergency at Onipanu en route to Oke Arin street off shyllon Ilupeju,” Osanyintolu said.
The site is expected to be handed over to the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and the Ministry of Physical Planning for further investigation.
Building collapses are common in Nigeria and construction experts blame this on a widespread disregard for regulations.
Last November more than 40 people died when a partially-built block of luxury apartments crumbled in Lagos.
