Nigerian Tonye Solomon has set a new Guinness World Record by climbing 150 steps to the top of a 250-foot (76-meter) tall radio mast while expertly keeping control of a football atop his head.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the feat, which Solomon achieved on August 10 in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, was verified by Guinness World Records on Wednesday.
According to GWR, Solomon had previously walked 60 kilometers (37 miles) with a football on his head from Amassoma to Yenagoa in Bayelsa State.
“So, to prove them wrong, Tonye decided to demonstrate his skills by setting a Guinness World Records title for the most steps climbed on a ladder while balancing a football on the head,” GWR said.
“He successfully achieved the dizzying feat last month,” GWR said.
Solomon said he wanted to set this record to challenge himself and “inspire others to do great things.”
This is not the first time a Nigerian has set a Guinness World Record. Early this year, Hilda Baci broke the record for the longest marathon cooking. She cooked for over 97 hours.
