President Muhammadu Buhari has mourned the death of a renowned economist, Professor Owodunni Teriba, who died at the age of 82.
POLITICS NIGERIA gathered that the late professor died a week ago and has been buried on Tuesday in Chicago, Illinois in the United States of America.
In a condolence message on Friday via a statement by his media aide, Femi Adesina, the president expressed his condolence to the family of the late educationist.
The president lauded the can-do spirit of the deceased, who studied privately for his Advanced Level education and completed his first degree in Economics at the University of Ibadan in 1962.
He said the late professor stamped his authority on areas like economic principles, monetary, fiscal and development economics.
Buhari added that Teriba hoisted Nigeria’s flag proudly and that posterity would be kind to him.
Teriba received a scholarship to attend the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, obtaining a Masters in Economics in 1963 and Ph.D. in the same discipline in 1965.
Teriba returned to the University of Ibadan in 1966 as a senior lecturer and was Head of the Department of Economics from 1975 – 1985.
