The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has denied knowledge of the departure of Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki from the party.
In a statement on Tuesday, signed by its national publicity secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the party stated that it can not give a full response to media reports on the governor’s resignations.
“The party has no record of the reported defection of Governor Godwin Obaseki from the Progressive party. We cannot comment at this moment on media reports suggesting the Edo governor or anyone else has left our great party”, he disclosed.
Obaseki was disqualified from participating in the June 22 Governorship Primary Election of the party in Edo state, last week, over discrepancies in his HSC and NYSC certificate.
He announced his resignation from the party shortly after meeting President Buhari on Tuesday.
